Momentuno hears the song, finds the 1 and counts it with you. Here’s how to reach us, with answers to common questions.
Contact us
Email us at support@moment-uno.com with a question, a problem or an account request.
It helps if you include:
- your iPhone model and iOS version, from the iOS Settings app under General → About;
- Momentuno’s version, shown next to Version at the bottom of Counting settings (the sliders button at the top right of the main screen);
- what you did and what happened, with the exact words of any message you saw;
- for a problem with a song, its title and artist;
- for a problem with your account, whether you signed in with Apple or Google.
If a song wasn’t recognized or the count was off, you can also send the app’s technical details. Open Counting settings → Troubleshooting, tap Copy details and paste them into your email. Momentuno never sends them on its own.
The details are plain text: the app version, bundle identifier, iOS version and build details, whether the microphone is allowed, whether Reduce Motion and Low Power Mode are on, the latest song-recognition and dance map status (including any error), up to 40 lines of recent timing checks (when each reading was taken, how many seconds into the song it was and how far the count was off), how the dancer loaded, and recent audio events with their times and connection types, such as Speaker or Bluetooth, never device names. They don’t include your name, email address, account, birth date, song titles, artists or any audio. Momentuno clears them when it closes, so copy them before you close the app.
1. What you need
- An iPhone with iOS 17 or later. Momentuno is made for iPhone.
- An internet connection, to recognize songs, load dance maps, sign in and prepare new songs. If your connection drops after counting starts, the count keeps going with the timing it already has.
- Microphone access, so Momentuno can hear the music.
- Music your iPhone’s microphone can hear. It can come from anywhere: a speaker, a sound system, another device or another app on your iPhone.
You don’t need an Apple Music subscription, the Shazam app or a Shazam account. Momentuno is free and has no ads or in-app purchases. The app is in English.
2. Signing in and your account
Do I need an account?
If you’re 13 or older, yes. After the setup questions, Momentuno shows the sign-in screen until you sign in with Apple or with Google. There’s no way to skip it.
If you’re under 13, you use Momentuno without an account. You can count with songs that already have a dance map, but Momentuno can’t prepare new songs for you. Your answers stay on your iPhone. When you turn 13, Momentuno asks you to sign in.
Signing in with Apple and signing in with Google create two separate accounts, even if they use the same email address. Use the same one each time.
Sign-in didn’t work
A short message under the sign-in buttons says what went wrong. Most of the time, check your internet connection and try again.
- If the message says there were too many sign-in attempts, wait a few minutes before you try again.
- With Google, iOS first asks whether Momentuno may use “google.com” to sign in. That’s expected: continue to sign in.
- If the same message keeps appearing, email us its exact words.
Why was I signed out?
Momentuno shows the sign-in screen again when:
- you haven’t used Momentuno for 60 days, or it’s been a year since you signed in;
- you deleted your account on another iPhone;
- you stopped using Sign in with Apple for Momentuno in the iOS Settings app;
- you deleted and reinstalled Momentuno.
Sign in again to keep counting. Unless you reinstalled Momentuno, your answers and settings are still on your iPhone.
My birth date is wrong
You can’t change your birth date in the app after setup. Email us and we’ll correct it in your account. To correct it on your iPhone too, or if you don’t have an account, delete and reinstall Momentuno and answer the questions again. When you then sign in, your new answers replace the ones in your account.
3. The microphone
“Microphone access is off”
You see this when you tap Identify song and Momentuno isn’t allowed to use the microphone. Tap Open Settings, turn on Microphone, then come back to Momentuno and tap Identify song. You can also find the switch in the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security → Microphone.
Why does the microphone indicator keep coming on?
While counting, Momentuno listens again on its own, for several seconds at a time, to keep the count in time with the song. iOS may show the microphone indicator while it listens. Tap Stop to stop counting and listening.
Momentuno never records or saves audio, and audio never reaches our server. The Privacy Policy explains how song recognition works.
4. Identifying songs
Tap Identify song with music playing nearby. Momentuno listens (“Listening to the music…”), shows the song’s title and artist, then finds the count (“Finding the dance count…”). If the song has a dance map, counting starts and the buttons change to Resync and Stop. The Apple Music link next to the song opens only if you tap it.
“Couldn’t identify the music”
- Move your iPhone closer to the music.
- Try again where the music is clearer.
- Check your internet connection.
- Momentuno recognizes recorded songs, so live music may not be recognized.
Each try listens for up to 25 seconds. If it keeps failing, copy the Troubleshooting details and email us.
“Couldn’t load the dance map” or “The dance maps aren’t available”
Momentuno recognized the song but couldn’t get its dance count from our server. Check your connection and try again in a moment.
If the screen says live counting is unavailable, the problem is on our side. Try again later. If the button says Check service again, tap it to check.
5. Songs without a dance count
Momentuno can count a song only when it has a dance map for that exact recording. Maps are made by automated analysis. A remix, a live version or another release of a song may not have a map, even if the original does.
Preparing a new song
If you’re signed in and Momentuno recognizes a song without a map, it asks our server to prepare one. You’ll see “Checking song preparation…”, then updates such as “Song queued. Waiting for its turn…” or “Analyzing this song’s dance count…”. The microphone is off while you wait, and the count shows a dash.
- You can tap Stop waiting at any time. Our server keeps preparing the song. Identify the same song later to pick up where it left off. That doesn’t use another request.
- “Queued. Waiting for the analyzer to connect.” means preparation hasn’t started yet. You can stop waiting and try the song later.
- When the map is ready, Momentuno listens once more to find your place (“Map ready. Listening for your current place…”). Keep the same song playing nearby.
- If preparation takes a long time, you’ll see “Still preparing. Check again later.” Tap Check again to keep checking, or Another song to identify what’s playing now.
We can’t promise that every song can be prepared, or how long it will take. If a song can’t be prepared, you’ll see “Couldn’t prepare this song. Try another.”
“New-song request limit reached.”
Each account can ask for 50 new songs a day. Songs that already have a dance map keep working. Identifying a song that’s already being prepared doesn’t count toward the limit.
“No dance map yet. Try another song.”
The song has no map, and Momentuno can’t ask for one. Preparing new songs needs an account, so this is what you see if you’re under 13. It also appears when Apple’s match didn’t include the song’s title and artist. Try a song that already has a dance map.
6. When the count is off
The count is ahead or behind
Tap Resync. Momentuno takes a fresh reading right away while the count keeps going. Keep your iPhone near the music.
Momentuno also checks on its own while counting and corrects small slips without showing a message. The count can slip when:
- the music repeats the same pattern for a while, as in a montuno, and a short reading matches the wrong phrase. Momentuno usually corrects this on its own.
- the music plays faster or slower than the recording, for example when a DJ changes its speed.
- you skip ahead or pause the music. The count keeps its own time until it hears the change, so tap Resync once the music is playing again.
The song changed
Tap Stop, then Identify song. Momentuno’s automatic checks ignore a different song, so until then it keeps counting the one it started with.
The count is wrong in the same place every time
The dance map for that recording may be wrong, and Resync can’t fix that. Email us the song’s title and artist and where in the song the count goes wrong. The count is a guide: maps are made by automated analysis and can be wrong.
Why does the count show a dash?
The count shows “–” before counting starts, during the intro, in parts of the song without a mapped count, and after the last mapped count. There’s no click or vibration then. The numbers come back at the next mapped count.
7. When counting stops
- The song ended. Counting stops on its own at the end of the mapped song.
- Something interrupted the audio, such as a phone call or Siri. Counting stops and the screen goes back to Identify song.
- iOS paused Momentuno in the background while your iPhone was asleep. Counting stops when you come back.
In each case, tap Identify song to start again.
Counting keeps going if you lock your iPhone, open Control Center or switch apps. While Momentuno is listening or counting, your screen doesn’t lock on its own.
8. Click and vibration
Vibration
Tap Vibration on the main screen. You can choose:
- Vibrate: on or off;
- Counts: which counts vibrate, from 1 to 8;
- Strength: Light, Medium or Strong;
- Pattern: Tap, Thud, Double or Buzz;
- Stronger on count 1: a longer buzz on 1.
Test vibration plays count 1, then count 5. Changes apply right away, even while counting.
Beat click
Turn on Beat click in Counting settings to hear a short click on every mapped count, with count 1 accented. You can’t choose which counts click. The click plays through your iPhone’s speaker, or through Bluetooth or AirPlay when they’re connected. Over Bluetooth or AirPlay, the click may not line up exactly with the music.
What your setup answer changed
Everyone starts with the dancer on and vibration on counts 1 and 5. Your answer to “Which sounds like you?” adjusted this once, when you set up Momentuno: “I dance socially” changes vibration to count 1 only, and “I teach” also turns on the beat click. Changing Your level later doesn’t change them, so change the click, vibration or dancer directly.
No click or vibration?
Momentuno clicks and vibrates only on mapped counts, when the count shows a number. If something’s wrong with them, a note appears under Vibrate in the Vibration options while counting, such as “Vibration is not supported on this device.”
9. The dancer and dance styles
The dancer steps the salsa basic in time with the count. Lead and Both show the leader’s basic, and Follow shows the follower’s. Change your part in Counting settings → Your part, and the dancer changes right away.
- Dancer view shows the dancer from the Front, Back or Side.
- Turn off Show Salsa dancer to see only the count, larger.
- With Reduce Motion on in iOS, the dancer stands still (“Still dancer · Reduce Motion is on”). The count, click and vibration keep going.
- At the larger accessibility text sizes, Momentuno hides the dancer and shows only the count.
“The dancer couldn’t load”
Counting still works. Tap Retry dancer to load it again, or Use count only to hide it. To bring it back later, turn on Counting settings → Your view → Show Salsa dancer.
Dance styles
Momentuno counts Salsa. Salsa On1 and Salsa On2 get the same count of the music, 1 to 8, and the dancer shows the On1 basic. Bachata and Merengue are marked Soon; choosing them doesn’t change anything yet. You can change your styles, part and level in Counting settings, under Your dancing.
10. Deleting your account
In the app
- Open Counting settings (the sliders button at the top right of the main screen).
- Under Account, tap Delete account, then confirm.
- For an Apple account, Apple asks you to confirm too.
Wait while “Deleting account…” shows. When it’s done, you’re signed out.
This permanently deletes your account, your sessions on every device, and the birth date and answers saved with your account. For an Apple account, we also ask Apple to stop Momentuno’s use of Sign in with Apple. For a Google account, the app asks Google to remove Momentuno from your Google Account. If you have both an Apple and a Google account, delete each one.
Your answers and settings stay on your iPhone until you delete the Momentuno app. To remove them, delete the app.
If you see “Account not deleted”, the message says why. Usually, check your connection and try again. For an Apple account, use the same Apple ID you signed in with.
Without the app
If you can’t use the app, for example because you no longer have your iPhone, email us from any address at support@moment-uno.com. Tell us whether you signed in with Apple or Google and give the email address on your account. To protect your account, we’ll confirm the request by writing to that address before we delete it.
If you used Apple’s Hide My Email, give us the relay address Apple created for Momentuno. To find it, open the iOS Settings app, tap your name, then Sign in with Apple (on some iOS versions it’s under Sign-In & Security) → Momentuno.
Removing Momentuno from your Apple or Google sign-in settings doesn’t delete your data on our server. The Privacy Policy has the details.
11. Privacy and terms
Momentuno never records or saves audio, and audio never reaches our server. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Read the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use; you can open both from Counting settings in the app too. Parents and guardians can read how Momentuno works for children under 13 in Children and the 13+ rule.
